Hashtag Strategy
The following hashtag strategy is designed to promote the vote of a country to host the International Academy of the World Sports Alliance.
The strategy includes core branded hashtags, secondary complementary hashtags, and a plan for promotion. In this article, we are using Dakar, Senegal and hashtags in English as examples. Simply change the City and Country for your #country and always keep English as the main language for the hashtags + your language.
1. Core Branded Hashtags
These are unique to the WSA Host Country Campaign and should be used across all your communications. They are designed to be short, tied to the mission and are action-oriented, encouraging participation and support to the campaign.

#Nektar
#NK5
If you are promoting your country, add the following core hashtags (replace by your city or country)
#PEACETHROUGHSPORTS
#VOTE4Senegal

2. Secondary/Complementary Hashtags
These broader hashtags will increase visibility and tap into wider conversations around sports, development, and your country.

Calls-to-Action (CTAs): Actively invite your audience to vote and share their support or relevant experiences using the hashtags (e.g., "Share why you think Dakar should host the International Academy #Vote4Senegal!").
Cross-Promotion: Feature the hashtags on all promotional materials, including physical banners at related events, in email signatures, and on all social media platforms (X, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).
Contests: Let your followers know why they should participate in the campaign. Show them how they can earn NK5 by posting, sharing and liking your content and signing up for the campaign.
4. Tracking and Analysis
As a final tip, regularly monitor the performance of the hashtags to understand reach, engagement, and content trends. You can use social media analytics tools to track which hashtags are driving the most visibility and engagement, and adjust the strategy as needed — that being said your best tool to track your progress is your score on the campaign portal.
